ADIA's New National President - Tanya McRae

1st Nov 18

Summary —

The nation’s dental industry has new leadership with the election of Ms Tanya McRae as National President of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) for a two-year term.

Key Issues For The Dental Industry —

The role of ADIA National President is pivotal to the success of ADIA given that the holder provides the leadership that helps the ADIA Board set the Association’s strategic leadership.  At the annual general meeting held on 26 October 2018, Ms Tanya McRae was elected as ADIA President for a two-year term.

In accepting the position, Ms McRae reaffirmed her passion for the dental industry saying that she is pleased to be able to serve the membership in a greater capacity.  Ms McRae further advised that the collective focus of ADIA is on providing infrastructure that allows member businesses to grow, create jobs, and operate sustainably.

Having experience in the areas of financial and strategic planning, Ms McRae has brought these skills to her previous involvement in the ADIA, particularly through service on the ADIA Board, as ADIA New South Wales Branch President, and on the ADIA-TCPC Trade and Commercial Policy Committee.

Ms McRae is looking to further the work of outgoing ADIA National President, Mr Phil Jolly, particularly in relation to the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan. Ms McRae advised that the Plan includes a raised awareness of the new and innovative patient treatment pathways the dental industry offers Australia’s oral health community. The take-up of these new products depends on the sustainability of dental practices which has been a major focus of the ADIA in recent years and will continue to be.

Upon her acceptance, Ms McRae also paid tribute to Mr Jolly, who served as ADIA National President from 2016-18. Ms McRae said that Mr Jolly has provided incredible leadership for the dental industry, including the creation and implementation of the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan.

As a result, the dental industry is supported by an organisation that provides more market intelligence to members than ever before and is an effective advocate at a political level for the issues that are important to businesses across the dental industry.

Uniquely positioned to understand the interests of small businesses in the sector, Ms McRae has been a Director at Dental Installations since 2008. Her previous experience includes management roles in Australia and New Zealand at Bytecraft Systems from 2001-07 and as a project manager with Aristocrat Australia from 2000-02.
