Parliamentarians Line Up To Meet The Dental Industry

Parliamentarians Line Up To Meet The Dental Industry

4th Sep 17

Summary —

The annual Dental Industry Meets Parliament Roundtable is being convened on 13 September 2017 in Canberra, providing an opportunity for member businesses to raise issues with those able to shape the commercial, technical and regulatory environment in which the dental industry operates.

Key Issues For The Dental Industry —

In order to help shape policy outcomes that allow member businesses to grow, create jobs and operate sustainably the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) engages proactively with Ministers and their opposition counterparts.  The centrepiece of this engagement is the annual Dental Industry Meets Parliament Roundtable which will next be held on 13 September 2017 in Canberra.

The Minister for Health, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, will meet with members to discuss the importance of the parliament passing the legislation which will be presented to it that will cut the red-tape associated with the manufacturer and supply of dental products.  Consistent with ADIA’s bipartisan approach to policy advocacy, this message will also be conveyed to Mr Tony ZappiaMP, the Shadow Minister for Medicare who has opposition oversight of medical device regulatory issues.

ADIA will also use the opportunity to meet with Adj. Prof. John Skerritt, a Deputy Secretary at the Department of Health who heads the TGA.

The importance of other Australian Government initiatives such as the cuts to small business taxation will be discussed with the Minister for Small Business, the Hon. Michael McCormack MP.

This annual Dental Industry Meets Parliament Roundtable is the highlight of ADIA’s policy advocacy reform activities and is unique in the dental community.  Now in its sixth year, the level of support that the annual Dental Industry Meets Parliament Roundtable has amongst Ministers reflects the strong reputation that ADIA has in Canberra as a trusted source of policy advice.

The issues that ADIA presents to members at this meeting are developed by the ADIA national committees and if this is of interest to you be sure to get involved today.
