This edition of the Australian Dental Practice Business Conditions Survey suggests that although the January holiday period had a dampening demand on overall patient numbers, the experience of dental practices nation-wide was that compared to the previous quarter the levels of business activity in the third quarter of FY2016-17 were stable.

This is a short note to let you know the latest edition of the Australian Dental Practice Business Conditions Survey, Australia's only quarterly assessment of sentiment on current and future business within dental practices, can now be downloaded for free.

The latest report provides sentiment of the business conditions experienced in dental practices for the third quarter of FY2016-17.  This is summarised below:

FY2016-17 Third Quarter Current Business Conditions Summary —

  Nationwide there was sentiment that the total number of patients remained the same when compared to the previous quarter, with suggestions of a minor increase.
  There was sentiment that the number of new patients seen (i.e. those that had not previously presented to the practice before) remained the same when compared to the previous quarter, with suggestions of a minor increase.
  Sentiment suggests that the number of government-funded patients that are being seen was relatively stable, with a minor decline.
  Across the sector there was a moderate level of sentiment that dental product purchases increased compared to the previous quarter.
